Your child will have come home with a purple permission slip to go to the Bounce Zone. Did you get it?
Look in the cubbie. It should be there.
We are going with the other Kindergarten class and the Grade One class. I personally have not experienced this place before so it will be new to me also. We will be going in shifts. One group will go and have their ice-cream, while the other class is having their turn at the bounce zone. I trust it will be a lot of fun. The date is for May 24th, during the afternoon (1-3pm) and no uniforms necessary.
Please sign the notice and return it to class asap.
Thank you so much.

p.s the chickens will be leaving us soon….i think i’m allergic to their dust!

Our 100 day should fall on Wednesday, May 30th. I am asking each child to find 100 tiny things that will fit into a small sandwich size zip loc bag. The 100 things should all be the same! (ie. 100 cheerios) We will be putting them into groups of ten, at school. Be thinking of what to bring. Thank you!

We don’t need to wear our uniforms on the 17th, which is our tea party day and our crazy hat day. I could use a volunteer to help that day to help with filling teapots and making sure children are safe. I’m sure we will have an extra cup of tea for you, and maybe a goodie or two!

Window Washing.

It is highly probable that we will be attempting to wash windows this Thursday afternoon, around 1:30m. We will already have had our hot dog lunch, the sun is supposed to be shining and the kids are ready to be doing something physical. They have energy to burn, so let’s have them doing something for our neighbours. It will be a non uniform day. I believe that our buddies will be providing the paper towel and Windex.

We are really on a roll with our learning! We are building words with all the sounds we’ve learned and we are learning how to read! Here are the double phonograms sounds that we have done so far-
oo, ee, sh, ch, th, wh, ck, ng, oy, oi, ay, ai, er, ow, aw.

In math we have been learning how to estimate and measure. We have been collecting data and building and reading graphs. We are learning how to add horizontal and vertical equations. The children are really moving ahead!

We are now finished all of our alphabet Bible memory verses. We have studied the life of a shepherd and are now learning Psalm 23 for our memory verse. We have been learning how David stood up to Goliath and we will be hearing how God has chosen David for a bigger task.

We had some children make decisions to ask Jesus into their heart last week. Please discuss this with your child as it is a life changing decision. Not to mention an exciting one!

Crazy Hat Day!

We will be having OUR Crazy Hat Day on Thursday, May 17th. I have decided that we could add a little extra fun and make it into a tea party. We will celebrate the fact that our chicks hatched and celebrate Spring. I think the children will enjoy it. So think of a hat your child can wear that day. You can find a crazy hat or make one. I think we still have to wear our uniforms, but I will ask if we may wear our dresses and pants. The children need to bring a teacup and saucer, if you have one. This will be our version of a high tea. (It could well be a high tea if we still have our teenage chicks with us!)
My vision is to have the tables set with table cloths, and have a tea set at each table. We would love to borrow any little teapot you have. I am hoping to have the children make the sandwiches, cookies and cakes. Please assure your young men… and ladies, that they do not have to drink tea if they don’t care for it. I will have an alternative choice. The tea will take place on Thursday at approximately 2:15…conveniently, just before they go home.

Chickie Update.

Last count was seven fluffy yellow chicks. Just like babies they want to feel safe and warm. The chicks are now strong enough for the children to hold, but I am insisting that they cannot hold them without permission and I like to be present. Please feel free to go over to the tub next to the incubator to have a look. They will be growing and changing daily.
When asked how long I keep the chicks, the answer is usually when they get to the teenage stage. You know, when they are so noisy that you can’t hear yourself think. They eat like there’s no tomorrow. Their room’s a mess and I get tired of cleaning it. When you try to steer them a certain way for their own good they madly protest, flap their wings and try to jump out of the box. And they stink! Some of you will understand what I mean. We do have a home for our little darlings to go to. Thank you, Mrs. R.

Mommy, I don’t feel so good.

If your child is complaining of a sore throat or you may notice that they are flushed and seem rather hot, then please don’t dismiss this. We have had more than one incidence of “Hoof and Mouth”. Children are highly contagious during the first week. Please keep them home and have them seen by a doctor to confirm. Thank you.

Class Photos.

Class photos will be taken tomorrow. Children should wear their full dress uniform. Usually the Pre-school and Kindergarten classes are taken first. Which means we should be taken when we are the cleanest!
Photos are usually in the chapel or the church foyer. I will leave a note on our classroom door in the morning if we have gone before your child arrives at school. Check out the chapel, and if we’re not there go on down to the foyer.
